サンクスギビングのやすみ
こんにちは、私の とまだち。
先週は サンクスギビングのやすみでした。ボストンに かいて、りょしんと ともだちに あいました。金曜日のばん、ともだちは うちに いって、ねました。ブラオニスを して、たべました。そして、えいがを みました：メートリクス 『The Matrix』.

きのう わたしは 日本の テーブレに いきました。デーバトロのさんかいで あります。ごご よじよんじゅうごふんから ごじさんじゅっぷんまで あります。ブレネットさんと ゴンザレスさんも いきました。日本の キャンデイを あべました。キャンデイは くわいですよ！チョコレットのクッキの上に ちさいパンダが あります。おいしですよ。

American Traveler

こんばんわ！このじゃしんは わたしの しゃしん for ポーリーヴォレです。Polyvore (www.polyvore.com) は アメリカのブログ です。It is for fashion business hopefuls, like myself, to make certain looks like you see in American magazines. I sent in this sample to College Fashion, a ファシオンのブログ. これわ まいにち よみます。I am applying for an internship there, so that I can write article about practical fashion and such. Here is the blurb that I wrote for my application:

いちばんのとしょかん
いま、わたしわ ロースクールのとしょかんの中 べんきょします。このとしょかんわ としょかんしずかです、そして あたらしです。ここ ロースクール べんきょします。つくえわ 大きいです、そして まども 大きいです。このとしょかんわ あかるいです。いいですね。
わたしわ ドアのひだりとまどのまえ べんきょします。From here I can see much of サウスクワドとゴレデンドム。For me, the environment in which I study is very important for my efficiency. If the へやわ うるさい、I cannot concentrate.

Tornado...?
おはいよ！
いま、リブースさんとわたしは in the basement of O'Shag because of the imminent tornado warning. We are supposed to be in ほんごのじゅぎょ、でも they have not lifted the warning yet. てつがくを べんきょしました、そして フェスブクを しました。So let's talk about something completely random...
コーヒー！
コーヒーは わたしの生。スタバで のいます、そした I like the Fair Trade brew they have in the dining hall. If I'm short on time, I go to the vending machines and grab a フラップチーノ like this!
Actually, I had one of these whilst filing downstairs for this random tornado warning. Personally, I believe that スタバ has some great コーヒー but sometimes the prices run a little too high for my liking. That's why I like these pre-made ones; for some reason they like to charge an extra $1.50 for a plastic cup, ice, and whipped cream.
I used to work in a カフェ when I was younger, so the caffeine monster got me early in life. Despite the bad effects it had on my sleeping habits, I developed a deep appreciation for well-made コーヒー。It all starts with the beans. If flavored and ground properly, your コーヒー will be all the better for it.

あさやすみです！
おはいよ！
I have had a wonderful vacation and am actually blogging from the airport in Boston. I know it's rather last minute, but I had quite a busy あさやすみ. わたしは あまり しゅくだい ありません。
でも、it is now the time to talk about わたしのりょう！パスクレライストハルに あります。むらさきいベッド います。ちいさいです、でも あかるいのしずかなです。大いまど あります。わたしのルムマトは とても いいです。おなまえわ ジェニファです。ジェニファさんは とても きれいです、そして コネキクトから きました。

As I finish わたしの しゅうくだい、I would like to share with you the song that has been stuck in my head all day long. This song is none other than "The Way You Look Tonight," by old blue eyes Frank Sinatra.
どしてですか？あのう、せんしゅうのきにょうびに パーテイに いきました。The theme was "Roaring Twenties," and it was so much fun! わたしの とまだちは Purcell Pavilionで ダンス『dance』しました。Everyone dressed in old-fashioned clothing, like fedoras and pearls! I love this era so much; I wish I could have grown up learning swing dance or the Charleston.
でも、こんしゅうのしゅまつ レゲンデス『Legends』で スウェイング『swing』のダンスのパーテイが あります！そして、いきます！

こんじゅうのじゅうまつ わたしわ べんきょしました。ふとばろがめに いきました、でも じゅくだいが あります。きにょびのばんに、ともだちのわたしわ りおのパーテーに いきました。ねませんでした until ごぜんさんじはんふん。きのおのあさ じゅういちじに おきました。そして コーヘーを すたばで のみます。いつも コーヘーを のみます。こーへーを helps me with わたしの べんきょう。After ふとばろがめ、へやへ かえりしました。りおで にほんごを と てつがくを べんきょうしました。ばんごはんを たべませんでした。じゅうじぷんに、わたしのとまだち Renteriaさん asked if I wanted スィムのあぱとで きました。I said, はい！ピーザーを たべました。さんじに ねました。きのうのあさ じゅうじごじゅうぷんに おきます。そして まれへ きました。とじょかんで べんきょうしました。こんばん ばんごはんを South Dining Hallで たべました with the other のほんごのがくせい。わたしとにほんごのがくせいは にほんごを べんきょします for a long time. Hideki Matsui
Hello everyone!
Since this post is going to be in English, it will be considerably easier to tell you about Hideki Matsui!!!
As a star player on the New York Yankees for 6 years, Hideki Matsui was both a Japanese and American favorite. After a successful career in Japan, Matsui turned down a whopping $64 million (the largest amount in NPB history) to play for the New York Yankees in December 2002. Tokyo hosted a parade for this honor, and Matsui continued to be the first Yankee to hit a grand slam in his first game at Yankee Stadium.
Matsui is also a consistent player. He didn't miss one game for the first three seasons with the Yankees, putting together a total of 518 straight games. However, a wrist injury ended his career at the New York Yankees, and spent a year so far with the Anaheim Angels.
As for his personal life, Matsui donated $500,000 dollars to charity relief for victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. He was also discreetly married to an unnamed woman, whom he met in Japan during the 2006 off-season. Despite having played in the United States for seven season, Hideki still relies on his translator, Roger Kahlon. Today, he resides in the West Side of Manahattan in Trump Place.
I personally admire Matsui for his humble and hard-working attitude during his time at the Yankees. While players like A-Rod and Jeter were getting a lot of press and attention, Matsui quietly kept his runs and statistics up, maintaing the solid core that was the Yankee Team. He also has a knack for hitting last-minute home runs to win the game... here are just a few:

Self-Introduction
ハジめまして！
トマソンです、ドオゾよろしク。
Hello, my name is Meghan Thomassen. I am currently taking First Year Japanese, and will be describing my experience here on this blog. So far this class has been challenging, but engaging. I am never bored because ハなブサーせんせい keeps us on our toes with new ひらがなand カタカナ.
I chose to study Japanese because of my love for the culture and history found in Japan. My father lived there for a while before I was born, and has told me so much about his many exciting experiences there. Over this past summer, I read the novel, "ショグン", which only determined my will to master this language. I wish to study abroad there someday, whether it be during a semester, year-long, or summer program.
I am also interested in the art of アニメ and まんが, being somewhat of an amateur artist myself. Both modern and ancient Japanese culture fascinates me. Maybe someday I will be able to visit トきょ and see the many lights of the city. Or perhaps I could stay in ナごや and witness a traditional ちゃ ceremony. All of these ideas have been dreams of mine for some time, and I hope that this class will help further that dream.
