Self-Introduction

ハジめまして!

トマソンです、ドオゾよろしク。

Hello, my name is Meghan Thomassen. I am currently taking First Year Japanese, and will be describing my experience here on this blog. So far this class has been challenging, but engaging. I am never bored because ハなブサーせんせい keeps us on our toes with new ひらがなand カタカナ.

I chose to study Japanese because of my love for the culture and history found in Japan. My father lived there for a while before I was born, and has told me so much about his many exciting experiences there. Over this past summer, I read the novel, "ショグン", which only determined my will to master this language. I wish to study abroad there someday, whether it be during a semester, year-long, or summer program.

I am also interested in the art of アニメ and まんが, being somewhat of an amateur artist myself. Both modern and ancient Japanese culture fascinates me. Maybe someday I will be able to visit トきょ and see the many lights of the city. Or perhaps I could stay in ナごや and witness a traditional ちゃ ceremony. All of these ideas have been dreams of mine for some time, and I hope that this class will help further that dream.

アリガト、 じゃあまた!

  3. James, はい. The computer does strange things when I type in Hiragana. Sometimes it automatically converts to Katakana or Kanji.

  4. What 時代(period) of れきし すきですか ( do you like)?

  5. コんばんわ! Are you really interested in anime/manga? We should get together sometime and talk about it.

  6. Do you draw anime/manga? That's pretty cool! I started drawing around Christmas last year, but I'm still not very good. I'd like to see some of your art, if you don't mind.

  7. Hmm, if you're using a Mac, capitalizing words when typing in Japanese will automatically convert hiragana to katakana. It's a bit strange, but I find it convenient.

  8. Meghan, it seems like we have a lot of interests in common. A lot of the history and the culture of the Japanese have intrigued me since I was little. Did you have an English copy of しょ軍?I would love to borrow it sometime.

  9. Ahh, another anime/manga artist! I don't feel so lonely now. :) I've been drawing since I was about... 7 years old, took AP Art last year (but I had to switch styles to realism because collegeboard hates anime), and I do digital art with Photoshop CS4. If you're really bored, I can help you with the drawing/fangirling about various series. :P

  10. Hanabusa-せんせい - I love れきし, it is fascinating to know the せいがつ of past peoples.

Caroさん - I like ancient れきし most of all, but ふらんすの れきし is fascinating as well. King Louis XIV was an amazing person who did some incredible things.

Reevesさん - あにめ is so much fun! づらら!is my current favorite. It's a little strange, but the overall art and writing is incredible. Favorite movie.... Howl's Moving Castle. By far the best thing ever produced.

Gomezさん- If you insist, but I'm terrible at it! I don't think I have any with me....

    アルフレッド•カスタニェダ さん (すみません、おなめえわ わかりません)
I figured out that if I just press "Return" instead of "Shift" it doesn't convert. でも、ありがと ございます!

Ayalaさん- Of course we have interests in common! We are とまだち! Haha, I might have a copy of しょぐん in わたしの へや。

Cabahugさん - That's so cool you use technology combined with artwork. I have yet to scan some of my work into PS CS4, but would love to try it sometime! What is your favorite style? I must admit that Ouran High School Host Club is one of my guilty pleasures...

    ありがとございます for all the comments!
